Stories are shared in many ways. They are recounted in books housed in libraries. They are read aloud around the campfire. They are randomly dispensed from stand-alone kiosks, issued on strips of paper like grocery store receipts….Wait, what was that last one?

Raine Square is excited to announce the launch of our Short Story Station to bring the written word to you.  This vending machine with a difference is the first of it’s kind in a public space in Australia. So, you can enjoy a literature snack on the go!

Who says print is dead? Thousands of tales will be available at the touch of a button, printed onto eco-friendly papyrus paper at no cost. Choose the length of your story – one, three or five minutes – and the dispenser will select from a library of over 100,000 stories. Whilst selection is random, the genres range from crime to romance and children's fiction, including works by Virginia Woolf, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens.

We all spend a little too much time on our phones, stuck in our bubble. But if these short stories can help us see beyond that, then maybe our story will have a happier ending.

You’ll find the Raine Square Short Story Station on The Ground Floor (near Coles)
