Proud partnerships with Uniting WA, UneARThed and South Metropolitan TAFE to raise awareness on societal issues and educate on sustainable fashion practices.
Event Date03.05.2021 - 25.06.2021
Urban Upcycle aims to procure funds and donations for those experiencing homelessness in the CBD during the Winter months. In a commitment to shared charitable aspirations, a donation site was housed at Raine Square during the months of May and June, collecting pre-loved pieces of clothing from the community.
Raine Square’s partnership with SM TAFE intends to nurture and aid in opportunities for young, local fashion talent, in particular, shining a light on the importance of sustainable fashion. TAFE students had the opportunity to select some of the donated items to upcycle into new, unique designs.
These upcycled pieces were exhibited for auction in the Windows of Wentworth with all proceeds and all additional donations, going to Uniting WA. Learn more of the designers and the garments they created here
Honouring Raine Square’s devotion to arts and culture and in keeping with this campaign’s purpose, Raine Square commissioned the artist, ‘Myassar’ who has experienced homelessness, through UneARThed – a social enterprise that aims to reduce stigma around homelessness in Perth – to create a piece of art that would inform the Urban Upcycle campaign’s creative. Raine Square is so pleased to be connecting with such important and influential local groups, serving sincerely and unselfishly devoting to better together.
