About : MICROENTERPRISE PEOPLE (MEP) and the MEP MARKETPLACE

Microenterprise People Inc. (MEP) is a not-for-profit Association made up of passionate, values driven and experienced Customised Employment Practitioners. MEP’s overarching goal is to support People with Disability (PwD) to achieve meaningful employment, whatever that looks like!

The first MEP Marketplace opened on 18th December 2023 after Activate Perth offered them a fantastic retail space opportunity.

Since then, MEP have opened at 2 other locations and the pop up shop in Raine Square will be their 4th.  MEP Marketplaces sell products from over 50 Microenterprise Owners, all owned and operated by PWD, and staffed by 25 PWD earning retail award rates. 100% of sales go directly to the microenterprise owners.

The shop removes the barriers for Microenterprises to sell in a prominent retail location by not only eliminating the overhead costs, but also supporting them with the administration, stock management, and some of the more challenging “business” tasks, all the while working with them to build skills to ultimately do all this themselves.

“Australia has one of the lowest employment rates for people with disability in the OECD, ranking at 21 out of the 29 countries. This means people with disability represent one of Australia's greatest underrepresented talent pools.”  17 July 2023.  (2023, Business Council of Australia).
